"What Would You Like to Do When You Grow Up?"
An Interactive Exhibition of Works by Gil & Motti
November 8, 2008 - April 21, 2009
In honor of the Israel's 60th anniversary, the Haifa Museums' Education Department has organized a unique interactive exhibition with the artistic duo Gil & Motti.
This project is based on the question: What would you like to do when you grow up? This question relates to fantasies that have to do with forming an identity and realizing one's dreams. The exhibition includes photographs and video works created by these two artists and displayed at the Arts Center, which has been redesigned as a television studio of sorts - including a costume corner, a film studio and a projection room.
The exhibition brings together the creative imagination of children with digital imaging technologies used in photography and video. It enables visiting children to create video clips in which they dream, shape and imagine themselves in the adult world. These video clips may be put on the Internet by exhibition visitors and participants; they come together to form a virtual mosaic of identities featuring the imagined futures of children during the first decade of the 21st century.
