The National Maritime Museum Library is a scientific research library containing over 5,000 volumes and several hundred periodicals covering a broad range of marine and other subjects. The library's rich collection corresponds to the Museum collections, and includes volumes on a range of maritime themes: archaeology (including rare reports on archeological digs), maritime archeology, numismetics, ancienet and modern history (from a maritime perspective), maritime military history, ethnography and folklore, maritime art and geography (with an emphasis on the geography of the land of Israel). The library includes series and unique technical material about navigation, ship construction and maintenance, discoveries and biographies, and a range of periodicals on these subjects in several languages. The library collection continues to expand thanks to donations from the collections of seafarers and sea lovers in Israel and abroad, and to the acquisition of new and relevant books and periodicals.
The library is located on the Museum's entrance floor. Individual and group tours, as well as further information and assistance are available by appointment at the Museum.
