Eliezer Sonnenschein's works emphasize the primitive simplicity concealed behind the technology that shapes today's Western civilization into the form of a virtual "technopolis." The electronic media, digital information resources, and telecommunication devices make the entire culture public, shown ostentatiously "in real time" on screens, accessible to any individual at any given moment. This is the virtual "instant" culture. Sonnenschein's work seeks to confront us with our daily routine, shaped by a fear of the moment the lights will go out, the technological process will shut down, and the empty chasm behind it all shall be revealed.
